PALLET TRUCK GUIDE

PALLET TRUCK GUIDE

Pallet Truck Guide

Choosing the right pallet truck is essential for efficient and safe material handling in your warehouse or workshop. This guide will help you understand the different options available, including wheel types, roller configurations, fork lengths, and widths, to ensure you select the best pallet truck for your specific needs.

Steering Wheel Options

Nylon Steering Wheels

Ideal for hard surfaces and environments requiring high hygiene standards, such as the food industry. They are easy to clean, have low rolling resistance, but can be noisy and less impact-resistant.

Rubber Steering Wheels

Suitable for irregular or moist floors due to their increased grip. They absorb shocks well but are not recommended for areas requiring high hygiene levels as they can leave marks.

Polyurethane Steering Wheels

Versatile and recommended for heavy loads. They offer low rolling resistance, are almost silent during travel, and can easily cross obstacles like expansion joints.

Roller Wheel Options

Single Rollers

Best suited for flat surfaces and for entering the open side of pallets.

Tandem (Double) Rollers

Improve travel on uneven ground and obstacle clearance. Suitable for entering pallets lengthways and sideways.

Fork Lengths

  • 795 / 800 mm: Suitable for carrying pallets sideways.
  • 950 / 1000 mm: Suitable for carrying pallets sideways and lengthways; ideal for use in confined spaces.
  • 1150 mm: Suitable for carrying pallets sideways and lengthways; ideal for general warehouse use.

Fork Widths

  • 520 / 540 mm: Suitable for lifting 'Euro Pallets'; may be unstable in some applications.
  • 680 / 685 mm: Useful for larger pallets; cannot enter 'Euro Pallets' lengthways.
